The Southern States Agronomy Field Sales Representative will provide technical & sales direction for Agronomy Division Plants, Retail Co-ops and Services and Independent Dealers for the sale of Southern States products and services.
How you will impact Southern States Cooperative:
- Meet or exceed assigned fertilizer, seed, add-on products and crop protectant goals.
- Provide sales, technical support and training to store personnel. Provide leadership, direction and implementation of new products and services. Work congruently with Dealer Sales Managers, General Managers, Agronomy Sales Managers, & Territory Sales Managers and other managing level personnel to sell Southern States Agronomy Products & Services.
- Call on Farmers to sell crops products and provide agronomy expertise
- Provide technical advice to Farmers in resolving crop issues
- Provide leadership and training to Employees.
- Assist with fertilizer and sprayer clinics and applicator certification schools.
- Promote crops sales, merchandising and fill programs. Provide feedback to Buyers of fertilizer, seed and crop protection products on programs and products needed to meet sales budget.
- Know the competitive markets in their territory. Communicate with wholesale procurement and retail management to maximize sales, margins and efficiencies.
- Member of various industry organizations; Crop Production, small grain, soybean, cotton, forage & grassland councils, seed, chemical and fertilizer organizations, etc. This allows SSC to stay in forefront of impending or introduction of new regulations, public and private recommendations, learn your competitors and bring insight learned to peers, w/subordinates and Corporate.
- Responsible for positioning seed (public, proprietary, branded) and providing feedback to corporate on the varietal performance. This also includes collecting Plot data -- with an objective to change data into sales information. These same responsibilities apply to fertilizers, crop protectants and Yield Enhancement Products that increase profitability and offer solutions to producers.
- Conduct presentations at Producer meetings and sales events.
- Manage the investigation and recommend settlement of complaints about on farm usage of Agronomy Division Products which cannot be settled at the local level.
SCOPE: Markets seed, fertilizer and crop protectants within an assigned geographical territory. Volume of business will encompass sales of up to $100,000,000.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy or related field.
- Previous experience in crops business that preferably has included sales.
- In-depth understanding/extensive knowledge of Agronomic requirements for production of healthy crops.
- In-depth knowledge of seed, fertilizer and crop protection markets.
- Ability to sell the entire line of crop products.
- Ability to develop sales strategies and techniques to increase sales.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- PC proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Possess Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) license or able to obtain.
